Sound Health: Community Yoga

Now-Aug 19: Join us on select Saturdays for a FREE all-levels vinyasa yoga class in the Grand Foyer--part of the Kennedy Center's Sound Health program connecting the performing arts to mind-body wellness. An instructor from a different local yoga studio will lead each session.

Yayoi Kusama, Infinity Mirrors

Now-May 14: Over the course of her career, the artist has produced more than twenty distinct Infinity Mirror Rooms, and the Hirshhorn’s exhibition—the first to focus on this pioneering body of work—is presenting six of them, the most ever shown together. A Raisin in the Sun

Now-May 7: If you haven’t seen A Raisin in the Sun, get to it at the Arena theater-it’s in-the-round setup, meaning there’s not a bad seat in the house. Want to dig deep on the show’s connections to current events? Select performances feature post-show discussions with academics, including Soyica Colbert, production dramaturg and associate professor of African American Studies and Theater and Performance Studies at Georgetown University.

Goddard Space Center

Various summer dates: If the release of Hidden Figures, NASA’s recent discovery of Earth-size planets, and SpaceX’s forthcoming space tours have you jonesing for a trip to another world, check out the Goddard Space Flight Center. It has family-friendly exhibits and demonstrations, and on the first Sunday of every month they even help you set off your own model rockets.

Truckeroo Food Truck Festival

Various summer dates: Truckeroo is a monthly festival held at Fairgrounds next to Nats Stadium that showcases the hottest food trucks in the DC area. Held April through October, Truckeroo is a family friendly event and features live music, cold drinks, games, and more. Friday, May 5 is the First Truckeroo of 2017! Filmfest DC

Segway Tour of the City

Year-round: A Segway tour is a fantastic way to see multiple monuments in a relatively short period of time. Along the way, you will have an up close and intimate view of the city on street level. Tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and informative. Tours are arranged to give you time to walk around the monuments privately and enjoy the experience. Segways are very easy to ride, and fun for all ages!

Kennedy Center Open House
May 27: In celebration of John F. Kennedy's 100th birthday, the Kennedy Center opens its doors wider than ever with a free, transcultural festival showcasing street arts culture, Hip Hop, and skateboard culture, as well as classical and contemporary arts.
