Ladies Night Out: Social, Sunset Hike and Campfire (Columbia)
Come join other nature-loving gals on a Friday night adventure! For those interested in grabbing a bite to eat first, meet at Great Sage vegan restaurant (greatsage.com) at 6 pm. Afterwards, immerse yourself in the great outdoors at Robinson Nature Center on an hour-long guided hike with the Center’s naturalists. Learn about fascinating flora, fauna, and history before watching the sunset and settling down next to a cozy campfire! You must preregister for the program (tables are reserved in advance). When registering, specify if you would like to join us for dinner or just the hike and campfire. The hike begins at 7:30 pm. Please meet us in the Robinson lobby after dinner for the hike. Ages 21+. Cost $10

HoCo Passport to the Past 2015 Summer Program (Ellicott City)
The program invites children in preschool through Grade 8 to discover the county’s past. Participants may pick up a Passport booklet and begin their journey visiting Howard County mill ruins, learn the history of local firefighting, visit two-room schoolhouses, a meditative shrine, a farm owned by the same family since 1797 and more. Twenty-four historic sites from Savage to Lisbon are pictured in the Passport and participants are asked to visit 15 of the sites and take a personal photo at the site to be included in the Passport booklet. If photos cannot be made, participants may draw a picture of the site. Completed Passports will be validated at the Miller Branch library with a deadline date of Aug. 29. There will be a drawing for prizes at the end of the program. Passports may be picked up at these locations any time after its kickoff date (May 30).

Nature Kayak Tour with Terrapin Adventures (Savage)
Come join us as we explore one of the gentlest rivers in the Baltimore-Washington area, the Patuxent River. Our experienced and entertaining guides will explain the basics of kayaking from paddling to steering and how to safely enter/exit your kayak. We often see many different kinds of wildlife like birds, fish, and turtles as we meander quietly on the many coves and inlets. About halfway through we will stop to enjoy a snack we provide before heading back.3 Hour Tour is $49. Add a picnic for $20/person. Must be 10 years old. Later this year, the completed mural will be installed at Long Reach for everyone to enjoy! This is a FREE hands-on workshop open to ages 8 and over.
