4th of July Parades
Independence Day is a great holiday to celebrate with a patriotic, flag-waving parade. Be sure to wear your patriotic clothing and show your American spirit. In the Washington, DC area, you can join the crowds at the main event on the National Mall or attend a smaller community celebration. Here is a guide to the 4th of July parades around the region.

Star-Spangled Spectacular! (Cockeysville)
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra plays patriotic tunes and ends the night with fireworks. Sit in the park - bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics.

The Nighthawks (Baltimore)

Free Fishing Day in Maryland!
The first two Saturdays in June and July 4 are Free Fishing Days in Maryland. On a Free Fishing Day, you may catch and possess finfish in the tidal and nontidal waters of the State for recreational purposes without a recreational fishing license, Chesapeake Bay sport fishing license, or any fishing stamp normally required by the State, but you must otherwise observe all fishing laws and regulations. Ports America Chesapeake 4th of July Celebration (Baltimore)
Visitors to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor can enjoy music by reggae band Jah Works starting at 4pm, followed by the U.S. Naval Academy Band Electric Brigade performing Top 40 music at 7pm. Entertainment takes place at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, located at Pratt and Light streets. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake kicks off the multicolored fireworks display 9:30pm.

Independence Day Celebration (Rocky Gap)
On behalf of the Adjutant General of Maryland, Major General James Adkins, the 229th Army Band is under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Two Daniel Stinchcomb and First Sergeant Walter Hirschmann. The 229th provides music selections that range from rock, pop, jazz, and patriotic.

A fourth of July Fireworks display hosted by Montgomery County Government on Friday, July 4 at the Maryland SoccerPlex and Albert Einstein High School

Independence Day Naturalization Ceremony (Annapolis)
Robert Clark will host the naturalization ceremony. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials will give the Oath of Allegiance to the candidates. Annapolis High School’s NJROTC unit will provide a cadet color guard, and the All Children’s Chorus of Annapolis will sing the National Anthem.

July 4th at a Signer's Home and Garden (Annapolis)
William Paca was one of the four Maryland men who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Tour the mansion that he built 250 years ago and wander the paths of his beautiful two-acre garden. Visitors will likely encounter Mr. Paca himself and hear why he pledged his life and fortune.

City of Rockville Independence Day Celebration (Rockville)
The celebration starts at 7pm with Fugitive Brass Band on the Main Stage and Get off My Lawn on the Campus Stage. At 8pm the Rockville Concert band will perform. Fireworks start at 9:15pm! Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/events for more information.

Frostburg's Derby Day (Frostburg)
Cool down in Frostburg this Independence Day Weekend and attend a free, family-friendly day trip event. Continuing as an annual event for 38 years, Derby Day is one of the community's most popular and greatly anticipated traditions.

Antietam Salute to Independence (Sharpsburg)
Join the Maryland Symphony Orchestra in their annual Salute to Independence at Antietam National Battlefield. The two hour concert begins at 7:30 p.m. fireworks display immediately following the concert.

Ice Cream Social and Reptile Show (North East)
Cool off with a scoop of ice cream and enjoy a close up encounter with native reptiles. Join a naturalist as we explore the wonderful world of reptiles. Meet at the Park Store. $3 per person includes scoop of Ice Cream.

Historic Sites Open House in Queen Anne's County (Stevensville)

Maryland Battle of the Beast (Union Bridge)

Jamaica Day Reggae Festival (Crownsville)
This is a annual family friendly Festival, Reggae Artists both Internationally and Locally will be performing, lots of good Caribbean Food and arts and craft will be at the Festival. The Festival will also feature a Fashion Show, a wine tasting booth, a raffle drawing for a trip to Montego Bay Jamaica with an all inclusive Hotel accommodation.

Summer Movie at the Wine Bin (Ellicott City)
Iron Man (PG-13) The Wine Bin’s outdoor summer movies run Saturday nights from June through September. Parking lot closes an hour before show time. The Bin offers a wine tasting before each movie and has coolers of ice to chill your beer and wine. Bring a chair and a picnic. (and a blanket). The Bin offers popcorn and bottled water to benefit Voices for Children of Howard County.
