American Heritage Chocolate Weekend (Annapolis)
Join us for the American Heritage Chocolate Weekend, and explore the engaging story of one of our most beloved foods . . . chocolate! In the 1700’s the chocolate making process was time consuming, however, it quickly became a favorite drink among the colonist. Thomas Jefferson once said, “The superiority of chocolate, both for health and nourishment, will soon give it the same preference over tea and coffee in America.” Join experts from American Heritage Chocolate and see how chocolate was made; tour the William Paca House and learn how the Paca family would have used chocolate in their daily lives; and taste chocolate the way our founding fathers would have enjoyed it.

This is the 25th year that the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, on 40th Street & the Bay, will be transformed into a place for "All things Greek", feeding and entertaining thousands. Paint It! Ellicott City 2014 (Ellicott City)

Retreat Through Williamsport Weekend (Williamsport)
In the evening of July 3, 1863 General Robert E. Lee had a tough decision to make. Does he stay and fight another day or does he withdraw his troops back to the safety of Virginia to prepare to fight another day. After losing over 25,000 troops Lee decided to retreat to Virginia following his original path through the Town of Williamsport and across the Potomac River.

Battle of Monocacy Retreat Commemoration (Ellicott City)
Take a trip back in time as downtown Ellicott City commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Union troops’ retreat from the battlefield at Monocacy to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Ellicott’s Mills Station. Weekend events include Union Soldier encampments and drills, a living history soldier’s hospital and a special Maryland Civil War artifact exhibit, and a special plaque dedication honoring those from Howard County who fought with the Union Army. There is also a book signing at the B&O Railroad Museum with Dan Toomey (The War Came by Train) and Marc Leepson (Desperate Engagement: How a Little Known Civil War Battle Saved Washington, D.C. and Changed American History). Learn about the role Ellicott’s Mills played while hosting the Union soldiers who came there to regroup, and hear stories of its impact on the mill town and its citizens. FREE, All Ages.
