Maryland State BBQ Bash

Aug 11-12, Bel Air: Harford County MD’s most anticipated event of the year. The Bash is a barbecue themed street festival featuring the Maryland State BBQ Championship, with more than 50 competition teams from the Mid-Atlantic area and beyond competing for $12,500 in cash prizes and the chance to compete in the annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue. In addition, more than 40 amateur teams will compete in the MD State BBQ Bash Tailgate Challenge to see who has the best ribs while competing for cash, prizes, and bragging rights. 

Montgomery County Agricultural Fair

Aug 11-19, Gaithersburg: The Montgomery County Agricultural Center has been home to the Montgomery County Fair since its creation.  Sitting on 62 acres, the Fair has more than 50 buildings that are filled with more than 5,000 animals every year.  The Fair has animals, entertainment, food, commercial, home arts, arts and crafts exhibits, and many other activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Shakespeare in the City

Aug 10, DC: Families are invited to take in a flick at sundown at the gorgeous Canal Park in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. Guests are invited to arrive as early as 7 p.m. to set up a picnic and prepare to be dazzled. Admission is free!

Summer Movies on the Lawn

Aug 10, DC: The Library of Congress presents Top Gun on the north lawn of the Jefferson Building. It's comfortable space for people to watch the film. Moviegoers are welcome to bring picnics, and a selection of food trucks will be invited to park along East Capitol Street so that attendees can purchase food and beverages.
