Don McLean Concert (Chesapeake Beach)
Rock the Dock Concert Series at Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa. Don McClean achieved superstardom after his song "American Pie" hit #1 and eventually was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. 

Come From Away (D.C.)
One of the most anticipated theater offerings of the year, David Hein’s and Irene Sankoff’s Broadway-bound musical makes its East Coast premiere in Washington after selling out two engagements out West. The story revolves around the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when planes were diverted to a small town in Canada. Through Oct. 9. 7:30 p.m. $18-$71.

Grease (D.C.)
This is the second-to-last outdoor screening for the series at Union Market. Next up? The 1984 version of "Ghostbusters" on Oct. 7. Parking costs $10; otherwise, it's free. 8-10 p.m.

Charity Boat Auction (St. Michaels)

Ellicott City Labor Day Running Classic (Ellicott City)
Family event takes place at the Shrine of St. Anthony. The 10k is a challenging, competitive run through scenic Western Ellicott City Countryside. The 5K is on roads and trails on the property. 13th Year.

Defenders Day at North Point (Fort Howard)
Defenders’ Day at North Point Reenactment & Commemoration honors the Battle of North Point, part of the defense of Baltimore, when British troops invaded in 1814.

Dick Dale (Annapolis)Dick Dale invented surf music in the 1950s. Not the '60's as is commonly believed. He was given the title "King of the Surf Guitar" by his fellow surfers with whom he surfed from sun-up to sun-down. 

First Sunday Arts Festival (Annapolis)
